1) Can you tell us a little bit about you?
Hello, my name’s Laurent, part of SERIAL for almost six years and currently working in Lausanne area as a project leader and operations manager.
2) Outside of work, what are your interests and passions?
50% geek 50% everything else. Mainly tennis, running, kendo for sports, usually up for going out for festivals or test all the cool bars we have in
Lausanne with friends and/or SERIAL teammates. The geek side is more on gaming side, either board games, video games and probably much more…
3) What was your background before joining us?
Since my school graduation (hmm that was already quite a long time ago sight…) I’ve been working in two consulting companies in Paris for ten years.
I therefore had the opportunity to collaborate on various projects with their unique problematics and outcomes and learned so much thanks to this diversity.
4) How did your integration go within SERIAL?
Actually, things went pretty fast, I remember getting in touch with SERIAL in late august 2011, and few months later here I was in Switzerland
ready to experience my coldest winter ever. Right now I recall more the minus 20° Celsius displayed before going to work than my integration itself,
but all in all it was a good time.
5) What is your best memory here?
Quite a lot in fact… Recently it would be a memorable wine degustation in Valais with our customer after a project checkpoint, an epic bowling challenge with the team, an undefined number of after-works, and of course the great war of the soft blue balls
6) And conversely, the worst?
I would go for one that I believe to be a difficult but nevertheless important experience and that marked me quite a lot and at that time: being part of a large scale project in which fear management was pretty common and thus leading to really weird and uncomfortable situations.
7) What have you learnt at SERIAL?
In consulting, things evolves constantly and new challenges come to you naturally.
For me it is mainly technical expertise, project management, business analysis, pre-sales on the customer side, and on the operational side, technical interviews, profiles validations, request for proposals and still new ongoing responsibilities.
8) If you had to describe SERIAL in 3 words?
Team, Commitment, Experience
9) Last but not least, what would you say to those who would like to join us?
“Think for yourselves. Don’t be sheep” and be sure to bring the croissants on your first day 🙂
The HR opinion:
Laurent Mary is a Senior IT Consultant who is able to handle a project from analysis and workshops with end users to its final deployment. Very open, he is highly appreciated for his good relationship with all colleagues and that helps him to be well integrated in all teams . Furthermore, he also facilitates communication between various players. Finally, he likes to get to the end of the things he undertakes too.
