1) Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Hello, I am Alban, a member of the SERIAL’s Team Support, and I’m assigned to the Lausanne’s agency since 2011.
I was born and lived for 30 years in Lille, I then settled 6 ½ years ago in Bulle, in the canton of Fribourg, to join the SERIAL family.
2) Outside of work, what your interests and hobbies are?
I am known to be the car & motorcycle expert of the Lausanne agency.
Passionate about mechanics and on-board electronics, I also like lazy sports (downhill mountain biking, snowboarding, karting and a bit of auto / motorcycle track in amateur).
3) What was your background before joining us?
I come from a university course during which I did a little of everything and that corresponds perfectly to the profile of someone who works in the Support! ^^
Then, I was successful interim warehouseman and maintenance technician in a factory, security agent (I laugh again!), Multimedia salesman (and informally a sale’s manager), system administrator, and then I returned in the world of development.
My most significant experiences before SERIAL were positions of PHP developer and then JEE developer in a French bank for 5 years.
4) Your function within the Support team requires a high level of expertise and strong interpersonal skills. On what aspect have you made the most progress since you joined SERIAL?
That’s right, in the Team Support we are in direct contact with customers (often in a hurry) and at the end of a chain of projects already in production, of which we have not always mastered the history.
This requires good interpersonal skills, very varied competences, and above all a lot of adaptability, responsiveness and organisation.
My career has evolved mainly in the last 12 months. I had to do for the first time a pre-sales which led to the management of a small project with great commercial potential, Business Support on Document Management of hospitals academics, and also advanced user training.
5) Your weeks are shared between your interventions with our customers and your work in our Lausanne Agency to meet the technical concerns of our employees. What aspect of your work do you prefer?
Nothing is planned in advance and everything is a priority! We can debug a client’s project, and then have to take out the drill the next hour to install a 65 “screen on a wall of the conference room, for then troubleshoot our employees.
It is precisely this variety that I like in my role within the Support Team.
As well as the croissants offered when the origin of a “bug” declared by our collaborators happens to be the chair-keyboard interface! ^^
6) What is your best memory at SERIAL?
It’s quite difficult to interact with our staff when we are in regular customer service, which is why I belong – when my schedule allows it – to be one of organisers of our Afterwork association.
My best memories are of course related to these outings, especially the Escape Game and the annual Karting outing that I hope to organize clause to our Lausanne Agency … (we need you!)
On the client side, my best memory is to have had the very positive feedback of a client that was entrusted to me and that we were about to lose without knowing it.
7) And conversely, the worst?
In “Support mode”, we sometimes get difficult project ends, its part of the job.
It is always a pleasure to succeed in putting a project of this type back on track, but this is unfortunately not always the case.
8) What do you like most about SERIAL?
I’m not going to be very original in talking about SERIAL as a family, but that’s the case.
Mutual trust is a value that is important to me, a value that I have shared with SERIAL since 2011.
9) Last but not least, what would you say to those who would like to join us?
Show sincerity, autonomy, desire to learn, team spirit in the office and during our Afterwork parties, and do not forget the croissants!
10) Would you like to add something?
Yes, SERIAL is the only service company that does not envisage turnover when recruiting.
This is also what made me decide to sign at SERIAL in 2011, to disembark in Gruyère region with wife and children, and I still do not regret it.
